An Entertainment Machine

In addition to all the other things your phone or tablet can do, it is also very capable entertainment center. In this lesson we explore the options to play games, listen to music, read books, take pictures and watch video on your device.

Working with Apps

Often you may not have a particular program on your device that you would like. These programs are available from the App Store (Apple) or the Google Play (Android). If you need a refresher on getting new Apps or organizing Apps on your device, review our Personalize Your Device tutorial.

  • Tip: Before installing a new App on your device, spend some time on the Internet reading reviews to make sure it is what you want and has a good reputation.
Once you've decided to get a new App, here are the general steps:
  1. Go to your Store on your device
  2. Search for the App
  3. Click the icon to Download the App
  4. Agree to any permissions to install


Many devices have very good sound capabilities built in.  Here are a few things to consider:
  • Know how to increase and decrease the volume
  • Know where your headphone jack is, can be used with headphones or an external speaker

Your device is both a camera and a picture viewer.

Your device is a very capable jukebox that can store your music library, tune in to Internet music channels, or listen to audio books. Here's a few things you need to know:

Now that you have a built in movie theater, it's easy to explore and enjoy video from all over the world:
